Lectures
on Lutheranism
3-4 May 20078
Christ Lutheran Church in Hutchinson, Kansas
Could you imagine having a Sunday morning service without the Lord’s
Prayer? What would you think if the pastor didn’t read any lessons from
Scripture? What if the pastor decided that he would only preach sermons
on the odd-numbered Sundays of every month? Did you know that there are
congregations in the Missouri Synod which do not have the Lord’s Supper
as part of their regular Sunday morning Gospel-treasury offered to
God’s flock? Brethren, this ought not be so. For what is the Lord’s
Supper other than the Gospel! This Gospel feasting is an “exceedingly
salutary and soothing medicine, helpful and quickening to both soul and
body.” (Martin Luther’s Large Catechism) Why would any congregation or
pastor act as though the Sacrament of the Altar was a Sunday
option?
Pr. William Weedon will lead this year’s Lectures on Lutheranism on
Saturday. He will also lead the Sunday morning Bible Class and
preach at the Divine Service that morning. Plan to be the guest
of Christ Lutheran Church on the weekend of May 3-4. E-mail
clchutchinson@sbcglobal.net or call 620-665-8513 for more information.
