Lectures
on Lutheranism
2-3 of June 2007
Christ Lutheran Church in Hutchinson, Kansas
“It’s a Matter of Trust: Why Lutheran
Congregations and Pastors Don’t Trust One Another”
with Dr. Georg Williams
Trust. It’s so needed whether in a small group of two (husband
and wife) or a large group (like of church body of more than 6000
congregations, 2.4 million people and 5300 pastors). In the
160-year history of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod, we have pledged
our trust to one another as congregations and pastors by vowing to the
Scriptures as the written Word of God and the only rule and norm of
faith and practice, and to the Book of Concord. Can trust be
broken? Certainly. Just as in a marriage, unfaithful
practice busts trust, so too in churches, among both pastors and
congregations. Can trust be restored? Most certainly!
It requires a change of heart and faithfulness.
Dr. Williams will lead this year’s Lectures on Lutheranism on
Saturday. He will also lead the Sunday morning Bible Class and
preach at the Divine Service that morning. Plan to be the guest
of Christ Lutheran Church on the weekend of June 2-3.
